2016 to be year of growth Lubbock's business community will see United Supermarkets' 100th anniversary celebrations, new headquarter openings and new stores and restaurants in 2016. Here are a few highlights expected in the new year. United's celebration will include a birthday party, various donation programs and an anniversary book and video, said Wes Jackson, United chief marketing and merchandising officer. On Jan. 16, United will celebrate its 100th birthday by giving away 100,000 cupcakes throughout its 66 store locations. The company also plans to donate $1,000 to 100 schools in the area through a campaign that will kick off in January. Through October, United customers can sign up for the rewards program and pick the school they want to nike hyperadapt support. Based on their purchasing throughout the year, United will select 100 schools that will get the $1,000. United officials have also planned an anniversary sale from July 27 Aug. 24. United will also donate 100,000 pounds of food and 100,000 pounds of apples to food banks in the company's trade area. The 100th year celebration will also include a 100 Days of Giving campaign from June 1 Aug 7, in which United will give $1,000 a day to a charity. United plans to donate 100 stuffed animals to children in hospitals and nike outlet hours offer 100 hours of volunteer work from each of its stores' teams. Construction of the new bank branch and office complex is planned to wrap up early this year. The first floor and the majority of the second floor of the new building will be used by Happy State Bank and its operations. In November 2012, Happy State Bank purchased about 3.6 acres on 98th Street and Quaker Avenue to make a bigger investment in Lubbock. The Reagor Dykes Auto Group will also open its new downtown headquarters building this year. The auto group purchased the Myrick Green and Cobb buildings at 1215 Ave. J and have built a 75,000 square foot corporate building. The new Reagor Dykes Auto Group headquarters building will house all of its offices, a state of the art conference room and a restaurant and bar. More in store for West End Phase 2 of the West End shopping center project on West Loop 289 and 34th Street brought in several new retailers and restaurants in 2015. In 2016, more is in store for the West End. Retail stores and restaurants that are planned to open at the West End this year include Aspen Creek restaurant, Chick fil A, Crave. A Dessert Bar, Verizon, Toni Guy, Walk On's Bistreaux and Aloft Hotels. A 10 story hotel and convention center is also in the works. The West End's current anchor stores include Costco, Cabela's, Marshall's and HomeGoods, along with new stores Nike, Dress Barn, Chipotle, Pie Five Pizza, Northern Tool + Equipment, nike 8098 Skecher's, Charming Charlie, Torrid, GAP, DXL Mens Apparel and Banana Republic. New stores A new United Supermarkets is in the works in Lubbock at the corner of 130th Street (FM 1585) and Indiana Avenue. Construction is planned to be completed in late summer or early fall 2016. The new United Supermarkets store will be about 56,000 square feet and also include a 2,500 square foot United Express convenience store with a drive thru. This is the 10th Lubbock location for the United Family of stores. The new store is planned to be designed with some of the features currently found in Market Street stores, according to United officials.
